Project Statement
I connect memories of special moments with the people most important to me through snapshots of the day. The act of gathering brought through tableware reflects these memories of joining together with family and friends. Through my project, I will be creating a series of ceramic tableware that reflects these snapshot memories I have of the times spent with those close to me. Each piece within my series will reflect the view from my backyard as my family and friends gather for dinner. My hope for this series is to allow viewers to reflect on the community that is important to them and the times spent connecting over the dinner table.
Artist Statement
I am an object maker, and I am greatly inspired by the world around me. The view from my
backyard provides memories of gathering with friends and family, and I craft ceramic pieces that
reflect this nostalgia. I create ceramic pieces that are simplistic in form but detailed in glazing.
My goal within my process is to create work that shows attention to every step of creation.
Creating sentimental handmade work is important to me and ceramics allows me to do so.
